Eating Peas

Zara started eating mashed up peas the other day and she seemed to like them. She took a few breaks while eating to blow bubbles and just lounge out in her highchair.

Five Months Old

Zara is five months old now and is doing all sorts of new and fun things. She started eating a little bit of solid food at dinner time and loves it, I can't get the food on the spoon fast enough before she has her mouth open again waiting for another bite. So far she has had sweet potatoes and peas and liked both of them. She has gotten really good at blowing bubbles and raspberries and she loves to babble. The other day we were driving around and she was just in the back talking to herself. We also have a good time trying to get her to giggle because it's so cute. Sometimes Dusty will just look away and then turn to look at her really fast with a big smile and that will usually get her giggling. She is having fun learning how to scoot and we noticed that she gets a really serious concentration face sometimes when she is looking at something, especially if she can't reach it, you can tell she is just learning all the time. If there is a binky or a phone within an arms reach she will find it! We pretty much think she is the cutest thing ever and we just love her so much. 

  

Lately...

The butterflies are everywhere lately and they are huge!

 Lately Zara's favorite toys are her binky, which she sometimes gets stuck on her thumb, and the wipes bag.

 Zara's newest trick is rolling, rolling and rolling. She learned to roll a couple months ago but now she can roll all over the room if we let her.

Zara attended her first birthday party for a friend in our ward and got her first (fake) tattoo. My parents caught this screen shot of Zara showing off while we were chatting. Funny.

Zara finally received her first Imagination Libary book in the mail yesterday, can you tell we were just a little bit excited?! Every month she will get a new hardcover book in the mail, isn't that awesome? And it's free. Dolly Parton started the program in 1996 in Tennessee to help promoted literacy and ensure that every child has books to read no matter what their family circumstances are. I think that a few more states are involved now so you should go to the website and see if your state is participating. The think Zara will continue to receive books until she turns five years old. That's over 50 books!

Weekend Shenanigans with the Fam

Preston, Zara and I went for a tour of the Belmont Mansion. Zara and I only caught half of the tour due to excessive chatter on Zara's end but Preston said the rest was really neat. It is amazing how much stuff they can restore and how much they know about people from their journals. The whole house was basically run by a woman around the Civil War era who was married 3 times and lost 6 of her 10 children before they could reach adulthood. 

Kasey and Collin came over from Knoxville! It was so fun to have them visit while Preston was here. We ventured over to Cheekwood to see the amazing light exhibit that they have going on right now. It was really incredible, and they had live music playing throughout the garden which made for a special evening.  

Kasey and Collin always introduce us to new apps and things on the iPad. Last time it was boggle, this time they showed Zara an Elmo app and she was pretty much mesmerized.  She's really into grabbing this and holding them herself.

We Skyped with Sarah and Isaac, siblings unite! Zara was showing off her latest moves in the swing.

We had burgers, tots and homemade sodas at The Pharmacy in east Nashville. Yum! The wait was long but we had fun hanging out outside and catching up.

Zara has discovered her toes, she likes to grab them and they usually end up getting all slobbery.
